(If you have taken the Content Management course, you can build on what you learned there, but that course is not required as a prerequisite.) We will be using a very broad definition of “content” in this course. Professional Writers are required to write in various styles to general and specialized audiences for multiple purposes. With the increasing call for content online (and in print), established and emerging genres may draw elements from professional writing, journalism, marketing, rhetoric, and creative writing. In this course, we will read and critique writing, using prose examples from online sources. We will explore techniques and strategies discussed by writers and try out a number through exercises. Students will create a piece of targeted medium content and one of long form content.
